working, waiting

I knew I hadn't posted in a while, but I didn't realize until just now that it's been almost a full month.

In my defense, it has been a busy month - mostly with parenting, but I've submitted work to shows as well (no answers yet), and even attended the opening of the Fall Solo Shows at the Arlington Art Center. I've also been doing a lot of editing work for mother and her blog, which has been pretty interesting from a research perspective.

What else? I bought a box of Diamond brand matches to play with, but they are just like the Home Life ones, so that didn't get me anywhere. I also bought a box of toothpicks, but so far all I've used them for is checking whether my pies are cooked. I'm still messing around with the latest incarnation of the absence of flight piece - I acquired a smaller box over the weekend, which I'm going to try hanging the bird in next - I'll post photos of that soon. My gut feeling is that this box is still not right - it's narrower, but not as tall as the original - but I need to look at the proportions to know for sure. I'm also planning to get professional photos taken of the more recent pieces, soon - probably in January. But I want to have the absence of flight, and some of the burnt pieces, in a finished state for that.
