Massive match frustration

Here's my current problem - Home Best matches burn like this:

But Home Life matches burn like this:

The difference, as you can probably tell, is in the visual fragility.

Home Best matches look all gnarled and interesting, while the Home Life ones look like blacked versions of their original forms. They're just not as interesting, and they have a lot less transformative ability.

I've been playing around with what I can do with the Home Life matches, working with their inherent properties, but they're just not speaking to me.

So if you see any match boxes that look like this in the Northern Virginia area, please let me know! I need them...

I just burned three of our kitchen matches, Diamond brand. They are all very straight.
The heads are fragile. 2 dropped off just as I was about to put them gently on a white ceramic bowl, thinking I'd send you a photograph...
